Abstract

The National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (NSP on GBVF) is a comprehensive, government-led initiative in South Africa aimed at addressing the complex issue of gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide through a multi-sectoral approach. The NSP outlines a clear vision for the country, identifying key priority areas such as prevention, protection, support, accountability, and strengthening of legal frameworks to combat violence against women and girls.
Additionally, it emphasises a coordinated response across government departments, civil society organizations, and the private sector, engaging stakeholders in the design and implementation of interventions.
The NSP aligns with global commitments on gender equality, like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and the African Union's Gender Policy.
