This was announced last night at the Voice and Choice Gala Dinner and Awards, hosted by Gender Links as part of the Global Affairs Canada project. Through collaboration, survivor-centred action and a shared commitment to justice, the interfaith movement is transforming sacred spaces, strengthening leaders, and building a powerful collective dedicated to ending gender-based violence.

Strategy 2030
This landmark initiative represents a significant and urgent step to move beyond scripture and theology and take concrete action to end the ongoing crisis of GBV in South Africa.
WWSOSA and Faith Action Collective coordinator Daniela Gennrich says the support shown to Nigerian televangelist Timothy Omotoso, despite serious transgression, shows the power they have to control the narrative. Omotoso was arrested on Saturday for contravening the Immigration Act. A number of Omotoso’s supporters gathered outside the East London Magistrate’s Court where he’s appearing for immigration violations expressed their support for him and unhappiness about his arrest on Saturday. He has filed an urgent high court application against the home affairs minister’s decision to declare him a prohibited person.

Our Interfaith Community of Action
Led by We Will Speak Out SA and the Faith Action to End GBV Collective
Empowering Faith Communities to End GBV and Femicide in South Africa
Join us as we support and strengthen the interfaith movement dedicated to ending gender-based violence (GBV) which includes femicide in South Africa. Our platform is here to build an active, ongoing online community where faith communities unite for transformative change.

Our Vision
We believe that faith communities can drive meaningful societal change. Our vision is to create a collaborative, supportive environment where faith leaders from all traditions can access essential resources, training, and networks to combat GBV in their communities.

Why Focus on Faith Communities?
Faith is central to the lives of most South Africans, with over 80% following an organised religion. These communities have a unique influence on shaping attitudes, behaviours, and social norms. By empowering faith leaders and their congregations to speak out and act against GBV, we activate a powerful network of change. Faith communities also offer safe spaces for support, healing, and hope, making them crucial allies in our mission to create a safer, more just society.
What We Offer
Online Learning Modules
We’re developing at least three comprehensive online modules for the Faith Leaders Gender Transformation Programme (FLGTP) and other faith leaders. These flexible, practical modules are tailored to meet the needs of diverse faith communities, providing the knowledge and tools necessary for effective action.
Resource Collection
Our platform hosts a rich library of resources, including articles, case studies, toolkits, blogs, infographics, and more. Each resource is carefully selected to support faith leaders in their transformative work. We’ll be adding new resources every month.
