The Brahma Kumaris have helped me remember a simple but profound truth: I am not this body; I am a soul. When I live with this awareness, I remember that every soul is equal. Deep within each of us are the same original qualities of peace, love, joy, wisdom, and power. These virtues are our true nature, and the more I express them, the more I experience genuine happiness and inner fulfilment.
For me, living with this awareness is a daily choice. It reminds me to align my thoughts, words, and actions with my highest values and purpose. As I become what I wish to see in the world, I don’t need to convince or change anyone. My life itself becomes an inspiration.
This understanding also shapes the way I lead. I believe leadership begins with leading myself—with self-awareness, integrity, compassion, and consistency. When I honour the dignity and equality of every soul, I create an environment where people feel seen, valued, and empowered to discover their own strengths. Rather than leading through authority, I strive to lead through example, knowing that authentic leadership is measured not by how many people follow me, but by how many are inspired to reconnect with the best version of themselves.
If my presence can touch even one soul with kindness, acceptance, dignity, or respect, then I know I am living meaningfully. I no longer seek recognition or reward because I have discovered that the greatest gift I can offer is simply to be my true, authentic self.
I especially like the sentence, “Leadership begins with leading myself.” It reflects the Brahma Kumaris’ emphasis on self-transformation before world transformation and is a philosophy that many people, regardless of their background, can relate to. It also subtly conveys your leadership role without sounding self-promotional.
