Endorse the Open Letter to the CRL

The Cultural, Linguistics and Language (CRL) Rights Commission recently launched a Section 22 Committee led by the Christian sector to promote self-regulation, which has caused much controversy by leaders concerned about potential government regulation and a threat to religious freedom.

While we support its intention to ensure religious freedom for all believers through self-regulation, our enthusiasm is tempered by other genuine concerns. For this initiative to succeed and foster genuine public trust, the Committee’s composition needs revision, particularly in terms of representation of women, youth and other marginalised groups, and inclusion of critical skills.  For this initiative to succeed and be true to fundamental Christian principles, its processes must embody transparency, diversity, and justice.

We are committed to collaboration and are ready to assist as necessary. We hope for a timely response to this Open Letter to the CRL and the Section 22 Committee within two weeks. Let’s ensure this effort reflects the integrity and inclusivity that it seeks to achieve.

We invite you to endorse this Open Letter here and help make our voices heard!
