Abstract
The Bible and “Homosexuality”: A Toolkit is a comprehensive resource developed by Inclusive and Affirming Ministries (IAM) to facilitate dialogue and reflection on LGBTQ+ inclusion within faith communities. Launched in 2021, this toolkit offers a participatory approach to understanding and interpreting biblical texts often cited in discussions about homosexuality. It comprises twelve thematic stations that guide individuals and groups through a journey of unlearning, learning, and re-learning, encouraging a shift from literal readings to contextual interpretations of Scripture. The toolkit is designed to be accessible and inclusive, aiming to empower LGBTQ+ individuals, faith leaders, and communities to engage with the Bible in a way that affirms sexual and gender diversity.
Each station in the toolkit addresses specific biblical passages and themes, such as creation narratives, the Holiness Code in Leviticus, and Pauline epistles, providing historical and cultural contexts to challenge traditional interpretations.
