Abstract
Gender-based violence (GBV) continues to be a significant issue in South Africa, deeply entrenched in the nation’s history, cultural norms, and systemic inequalities. This article from SaferSpaces offers a comprehensive analysis of the various manifestations intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and femicide, underscoring their severe impact on individuals, families, and communities. It investigates the underlying causes of GBV, such as patriarchy, harmful gender norms, poverty, and substance abuse, highlighting the connections between gender inequality and societal power dynamics.
